We have embarked on a project to define the role of the broadcast pathway at BOA for our official launch this week.
Our main aim of the production is to teach others about our roles within the production team and make them realise making a film is more than just point an shoot but rather than making a dry piece with each of us speaking to camera about our production roles, we took some time brainstorming different ways we could make it a bit more interesting!
We settled on a mocku-drama inspired by ‘The Office’ and ‘Modern Family’ using a handheld filming technique with segments direct to camera as if it were an interview. Doing it this way meant we had a bit more creative freedom with the film and provided us with much needed experience of developing story lines and working on dramas.
We each created caricatures of ourselves in our production roles to make the world our drama is set in a little more interesting. Once we did this we had to work out a way we could include each member of the class in a story line, whilst sticking the the original brief we were given. Of course we included the usual juicy conflicts such as feuds, flirting and scheming. We hope to wrap the project on Wednesday, ready to be shown to the opening guests on Thursday.
