We the Peoples Film Festival

So, this Saturday I journeyed down to London’s South Bank for the We the Peoples Film Festival at the BFI. All the films shown at the festival are related to the United Nations’ Three Pillars of freedom. Two films were screened and I chose to see South African Film, Otelo Burning, was incredibly moving and emotional and after the screening I had the chance to talk to Sara Blecher, the director. She talked to me about the process she went through and how the story was developed, by talking to people living in the township.

I then went to the learning space at the BFI, to have an editing workshop with BoldFace Productions and Actor/Producer David Westhead. David had been working on a project for a documentary called Wembley to Soweto, in which the teaches 8 disadvantaged teenagers from Soweto to ‘feed their family with a camera’.We were given a brief, to make a promotional video for his project. I now have a better understanding of final cut pro and David was so impressed with everybody’s videos he will put them on his website. When it’s up on the website I’ll post a link.
